What style of pilates is the Wednesday Club?

We offer different options through classes to find the right level of challenge for everyone, allowing you to progress safely each session.
What is mat pilates?
Mat pilates is a form of low-impact exercise that focuses on strengthening through breath and steady control of movements. The aim of the practice is to improve posture, flexibility, and body awareness. It was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century and is influenced by gymnastics, yoga, and ballet.
Why try mat pilates?
Mat pilates is a simple, accessible way to boost your overall health and wellbeing. Our practice encourages mindfulness and controlled breathing, helping to reduce stress and bring focus back to your body.
Whether you're new to exercise, recovering from an injury, or looking to build on your current fitness, mat pilates offers a low-impact, effective workout that meets you where you at.
What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness or mind body connection is something we build into our classes often. The principles of mindfulness encourage you to stay present in the here and now, focusing on your breath, body or surroundings. It important this comes from a place of curiosity with no judgement. Lastly, we encourage, intentional focus, training you mind to return to the present when it wanders. We’ll prompt with breath ques or challenge you to reflect on where you are feeling a certain movement so you can stay connected to your body. Overall, this should contribute to a practice that feels good for the body and the mind.
